A word from FGM – December 2023<\/h4>\n

2023 has been a year of consolidation for the Foundation of Greater Montr\u00e9al. We moved forward on several of the orientations we had committed ourselves to our 2022-2026 Strategic Plan<\/a>. These included, among others, trust-based philanthropy, responsible investment, the creation of new partnerships and the integration of equity, justice, diversity and inclusion principles into all of our activities. There is still plenty of work to do, but we are definitely moving the needle.<\/p>\n

We also benefitted from a variety of forums to promote philanthropic action in our community and explain the transformative methods we are putting into practice. We reached out and welcomed new philanthropists from all backgrounds. And we continued to support those who work for the members of our community who are most in need. These are but a few of the highlights of what the Foundation was able to achieve over the last year.<\/p>\n

Looking forward to next year<\/h5>\n

In 2024, several other major projects are on the horizon. FGM will put the necessary resources in place to reach new audiences and better serve its clients, its partners and the community as a whole. A new edition of the Vital Signs of Greater Montreal <\/em><\/a>series of reports will be published and other initiatives, aiming to generate and disseminate knowledge on the state of our community, will also emerge thanks to new and unique collaborations. The Foundation will as well ramp up the implementation of its impact investment policy. There is much more, and I am looking forward to telling you about it all in the months to come.<\/p>\n

But until then, as the year\u2019s end is fast approaching, the entire team joins me in wishing you a wonderful holiday season. Over the next few weeks, we will get some well-deserved rest and spend quality time with our loved ones, and we hope you will able to do so too. Thank you for your support, and see you next year!<\/p>\n

The Collective Fund for Social Equity<\/h4>\n

Between 2024 and 2026, sixteen organizations across Greater Montreal will share upwards of $2.8 million in order to support asylum seekers, refugees, or migrants without status, or with temporary or precarious status.<\/p>\n

A new Chair for the Foundation’s Board of Directors<\/h4>\n

Having served as Vice-Chair since 2021 and as a member since 2018, Karen Macdonald succeeded Kathy Fazel as Chair of FGM’s Board of Directors in May.<\/p>\n
