{"id":33166,"date":"2023-03-02T00:00:38","date_gmt":"2023-03-02T05:00:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/fgmtl.org\/?p=33166"},"modified":"2023-03-02T00:00:38","modified_gmt":"2023-03-02T05:00:38","slug":"the-wim-fund-against-violence-towards-women-and-girls","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/2021.fgmtl.org\/staging\/en\/the-wim-fund-against-violence-towards-women-and-girls\/","title":{"rendered":"The WIM Fund against violence towards women and girls"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Category: violence against people identifying as women<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>The Women&rsquo;s Impact Montr\u00e9al Collective Fund (<a href=\"https:\/\/fgmtl.org\/en\/contribute\/fgm-collective-funds\/the-womens-impact-montreal-collective-fund-at-fgm\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">WIM Fund<\/a>) at FGM offers financial support to local community organizations that are directly serving Greater Montr\u00e9al women and girls in order to improve their life circumstances. <\/em><em>Persons identifying as immigrant, Black, racialized or Indigenous women are particularly vulnerable, especially those living in poverty or social isolation. Women identifying as members of the LGBTQ2S+ community, as well as those who live with (physical or intellectual) functional limitations or who are neurodivergent, are also more at risk of being discriminated against. FGM has therefore given priority to organizations and projects targeting one or more of those groups.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Below, learn more about the recipient organizations and projects in the violence against women category.<\/p>\n[scNewWrapperWithImg bg=\u00a0\u00bbblack\u00a0\u00bb img=\u00a0\u00bb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/Capture-decran-26.png\u00a0\u00bb]\n<h3>La Table de concertation femmes Osez au f\u00e9minin: Coordinating a plan of action to counter violence in Montreal North<\/h3>\n<p>The members of the <em>Table Paix et S\u00e9curit\u00e9 Urbaine<\/em> (Roundtable for peace and urban safety<em>)<\/em>, <em>Table de quartier <\/em>(Neighbourhood Roundtable) and <em>Table Femmes Osez au F\u00e9minin <\/em>(Women Who Dare Roundtable) of Montreal North, in collaboration with the borough administration, the local CIUSSS and the SPVM, have developed a coordinated plan to be deployed over five years to prevent domestic violence and intimate partner violence among youth in the area. Created for and by individuals who have been victims of violence, the initiative also, through the implementation of a dedicated community resource, aims to bolster efforts to raise awareness as well as intervention services to support and accompany victims.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"cta full red cta-page\"><a href=\"https:\/\/tqmns.org\/liste-des-concertations\/#violence\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Visit the neighbourhood roundtable website<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n[\/scNewWrapperWithImg]\n[scNewWrapperWithImg bg=\u00a0\u00bbblack\u00a0\u00bb img=\u00a0\u00bb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/Affiche-InterAidance-FR-1-1536&#215;2048-1.jpeg\u00a0\u00bb]\n<h3>The Pluri\u2019ELLES PairAidance project : Peer support by and for immigrant and racialized women living with a disability from the IN\u00c9\u00c9I-PSH<\/h3>\n<p>The <em>InterAidance<\/em> program, launched in 2020 by the Institut national pour l\u2019\u00e9quit\u00e9, l\u2019\u00e9galit\u00e9 et l\u2019inclusion des personnes en situation de handicap (IN\u00c9\u00c9I \u2013 PSH) serves as a channel for raising awareness, sharing information, reference, and above all, psychosocial intervention and care for victims of violence and discrimination. A team of volunteers trained in a mode of counseling tailored to the realities of women living with a disability stands ready to respond to phone calls, offer support, guide users towards accessible and relevant resources, and offer education and training to community actors and public bodies on the topics of violence and receiving and accompanying the victims.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"cta full red cta-page\"><a href=\"https:\/\/ineeipsh.org\/projets\/service-interaidance\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Visit the IN\u00c9\u00c9I-PSH&rsquo;s website<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n[\/scNewWrapperWithImg]\n[scNewWrapperWithImg bg=\u00a0\u00bbblack\u00a0\u00bb img=\u00a0\u00bb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/collectif-la-voix-des-jeunes.jpg\u00a0\u00bb]\n<h3>\u00ab\u00a0Sexual violence in our schools, it\u2019s really happening: Let\u2019s act now!\u00a0\u00bb, a project from the Collectif La voix des jeunes compte<\/h3>\n<p><em>La voix des jeunes compte<\/em> is a collective that brings together young racialized women between the ages of 11 and 21. They have been mobilizing for five years to counter sexual violence in schools, as they know this is a crucial environment in terms of education and prevention. The collective is advocating for real and lasting policy changes in the fight against sexual violence in Quebec\u2019s educational establishments. Its volunteer members are urging legislative changes that would help further prevent and combat sexual violence in schools, so that young people can flourish in a healthy and safe environment.
